When God Imagined Me
by Alana Levandoski

I understand it
When the times are changing
People get scared
of things rearranging
But even history shifts when told by more voices
When not just one kinda person has all the choices

So here we are
There’s no turning back
The cost that was paid
For all that we have
A new era dawns as another one dies out
But today, the woman still cries out:

When God imagined me
The Trinity was in harmony
I was no afterthought, no oversight
No spare rib and no red light
When God imagined me
The gathering infinity
Was still gathering and all was right
It was good and I was Light
When God imagined me

This long last breath
Of a dying system
Where “Men of God” are still calling
This tyranny “Christian”
When the one who they claim
To be their Lord and Saviour
Is in every single one of the women
They blame

For tempting…
Violent desire
For the millions of slights
That occur every hour
It’s time, for new birth
For a simple embrace of everyone’s worth

When God imagined me
The Trinity was in harmony
I was no afterthought, no oversight
No spare rib and no red light
When God imagined me
The gathering infinity
Was still gathering and all was right
It was good and I was Light
When God imagined me
