NEW TWOTP Ning community "Virtual Community for Kingdom Soil"
DISCONNECTION?
As we talk to artists working in churches it sounds like very few of them are able to create from relationship. It seems like a lot of people working in visual media are feeling like disconnected in-house suppliers grinding out product.
It seems like there's very little relational soil that creativity might work up through. Instead, folks are feeling like a collection of disconnected and interchangeable potted plants.
Because of the disconnected potted plant syndrome, there isn't a lot of the mulch of "why" fertilizing creative production. There's a lot of "what" and "how." How do I survive in my little clay pot until the next watering?
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
We wondered what you think about this. We also want to help.
So, we started this Ning community, some virtual soil. A place to temporarily transplant yourself and get some water. A place to dig deeper, to ask why, to find others who maybe feel disconnected and see if there isn't something that can be done about it. A place to start thinking about a theology of visual media. A place to dream about the prophetic role visual media might play in the church today.
DIG IN.
•Do you think community and relationship is needed to develop a theology of visual media?
